Leah Rachel Tyrna Fischer, 27 one of the two Oakland resident along with Auburn man and assistance of other agencies in november traveled the world with her parents and lived in Paris for six months with them. The traveling exposed her to many other world cultures and helped prepare her for a career in the United States’ legal system. Today, as a paralegal, she communicates with people of all kinds of backgrounds and statuses. One thing that has fascinated Fischer since she was a child is her ethnic background.
After some digging and family research, Leah Fischer found she can trace her roots back to the Vikings, northern European people originating from what is now Scandinavia. “Most people do not know that I struggle with identity issues especially growing up as a child. I am… learning as much about my heritage as I can considering my heritage is not the same as the family that raised me,” she says.
Leah Fischer is constantly fascinated by the stories of immigrants to the United States and how they’ve made their way in this country.
